RYAN BRADSHAW...
Why did you start CrossFit? I was introduced to CrossFit in October 2010 by a friend Philip Turnock, Phil suggested that I "had a bit of a motor" and would benefit from joining the team at CrossFit Canterbury. After completing my introductory on ramp session I soon became hooked,I have made massive gains in fitness and have really enjoyed learning Olympic lifting techniques and the Gymnastic skills which make up CrossFit WOD's.My motor is disappearing and I am sure that attending CrossFit has improved my wellbeing and increased my quality of life.
What's yours favourite thing about CrossFit? I really like the fact that the WOD for the day remains a mystery until you arrive at the Gym and the support from the Coaches, there is a real focus on technique which translates to more enjoyable workouts and personal gains.
What's your favourite exercise and WOD? My favourite exercise is Olympic lifting in general but probably enjoy back squats the most, favourite WOD would be Filthy Fifty or Tabata which both push you to breaking point and leave nothing in the tank.
Favourite food? Thai Food
Favourite Movie? Shawshank Redemption
What is your occupation/ who do you work for? I am a Service Technician for Burns and Ferrall |
JUSTINE YOUNG...
Why did you start CrossFit? Basically, its because my boyfriend Sam persuaded me to give it a go. Having another gym membership was the thing holding me back. Attending that same gym classes week in week out lost its challenge. It wasnt until I turned up to a trial class that I realised what Id been missing.
What's yours favourite thing about CrossFit? The variety if the workouts are a major plus. Every time its a different WOD. Getting tips and pointers from the coaches along the way helps keep you on the right track. You really feel welcomed in from the beginning, not only by the coaches but the other members too. Youre no longer a nameless gym goer. Coaches readily offer guidance and support. Working out within a group has already proved highly motivating and rewarding for me personally. CrossFit has reignited my interest in working out.
What's your favourite exercise and WOD? Olympic lifting is new and exciting to me. This is an aspect of CrossFit that I wish to improve on. Any WOD that involves weights is for me. Push ups are probably the exercise that I most enjoy doing. Ive learnt that burpees arent so bad!
Favourite food? Hands down its crayfish. I have a great love of food. People that know me well know that my ling-time reputation of having large appetite is every bit true. Ill give most foods a try.
Favourite Movie? Im a self self-confessed movie buff. Pulp Fiction would have to be my favourite.
What is your occupation/ who do you work for? Im a Lab Technician in the Microbiology department at Southern Community Laboratories analysing specimens. |
